The XLPSR Challenge is organized by a team of researchers, engineers, and forensic experts from leading French academic institutions, industry, and the National Forensic Science Service.

Full Professor, Head of ASALI Research Group

XLIM Laboratory, Université de Poitiers

Chaker Larabi leads the ASALI research group at XLIM, focusing on image/video enhancement, perceptual optimization, quality assessment, compression, and immersive media. He has supervised over 20 PhD students, authored more than 200 publications, and led numerous national and international projects.

Didier Nicholson specializes in image/video coding, transmission, and processing. With over 25 years of experience in standardization (JPEG/MPEG), he has supervised PhD students, served on 15+ thesis juries, authored 30+ publications, and led multiple research and technology transfer projects.

Postdoctoral Researcher

CNRS/XLIM, Université de Poitiers

Abderrezzaq Sendjasni specializes in computer vision and deep learning for visual media. He earned his PhD from Université de Poitiers and NTNU, focusing on perceptual quality assessment, super-resolution, and 360°/point cloud processing for enhanced visual experiences.

Melan Vijayaratnam

Research Engineer

Melan Vijayaratnam works on AI applications for compressed video enhancement. He earned his PhD from Telecom Paris (IPP) with research on temporal extrapolation for zero-latency video transmission. His work has been presented at major conferences including ICIP, VCIP, and EUVIP.

Gabriele Facciolo

Research Group Leader

Centre Borelli, École Normale Supérieure Paris‑Saclay

Gabriele Facciolo leads the image-processing group at Centre Borelli. His research focuses on mathematical modeling and machine learning for computer vision, image restoration, and remote sensing. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of IPOL and has led numerous research projects with both institutional and industry partners.

Digital Forensic Engineer

LCCN, Service National de Police Scientifique

Alexandre Cilia leads the audio-video division of the Laboratoire Central de Criminalistique Numérique (LCCN), focusing on image and video forensic analysis for criminal investigations, including license plate enhancement. With over 16 years of field experience in digital forensics, he contributes to applied research with the goal of translating real-world forensic challenges into practical solutions.

Fanny PAGÈS

Digital Forensic Engineer, PhD

LCCN, Service National de Police Scientifique

Fanny Pagès is a forensic expert with a focus on facial comparison and video analysis. Working in forensic policing for five years, she uses advanced image and video analysis to assist criminal investigations. She actively participates in the validation of innovative analytical techniques and their successful integration into operational procedures.

Hugo LAMI

Phd student

CERAPS, Université de Lille

Hugo Lami is a Phd student in public law at the University of Lille at the CERAPS laboratory (UMR 8026). His thesis work concerns the use by police authorities of image processing algorithms for the purposes of investigation and crime prevention, and the conciliation of this use with fundamental rights and freedoms.
